Simplified models for vibrational energy transfer in proteins

چکیده
We consider the transfer of vibrational energy in proteins and derive a simplified model for the resonant energy exchange between different vibrational modes. We use the parameters of an earlier study [K. Moritsugu, et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 85 (2000) 3970 ] to compare our predictions with the results of the molecular dynamics simulations, and reveal an excellent agreement. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. Monte Carlo characterization of photoneutrons in the radiation therapy with high energy photons: a Comparison between simplified and full Monte Carlo models
Background: The characteristics of secondary neutrons in a high energy radiation therapy room were studied using the MCNPX Monte Carlo (MC) code. Materials and Methods: Two MC models including a model with full description of head components and a simplified model used in previous studies were implemented for MC simulations. Results: Results showed 4-53% difference between full and wit...
متن کاملStress Transfer Modeling in CNT Reinforced Composites using Continuum Mechanics (TECHNICAL NOTE)
Because of the substantial difference in stiffness between matrix and nanotube in CNT composite, the stress transfer between them controls their mechanical properties. This paper investigates the said issue, analytically and numerically, in axial load using representative volume element (RVE). The analytical model was established based on the modified Cox’s shear lag model with the use of some ...
متن کاملEnergy Flow from Root to Shoot: A Comprehensive In silico Analysis
Background: Root to shoot connection and transfer of information seems to be taken place mostly via the transmissions of signal molecules, secondary metabolites, amino acids, hormones and proteins, through xylem sap. Examination of earlier reports is indicative of relatively high levels of conservation in xylem sap protein compositions. Apparently these protein molecules are be...
متن کاملUniversality of vibrational spectra of globular proteins.
It is shown that the density of modes of the vibrational spectrum of globular proteins is universal, i.e. regardless of the protein in question, it closely follows one universal curve. The present study, including 135 proteins analyzed with a full atomic empirical potential (CHARMM22) and using the full complement of all atoms Cartesian degrees of freedom, goes far beyond previous claims of uni...
